Well, well, well, look what we have here! I have been waiting patiently to post this as now the decorating is almost complete! So, at the end of November, at Number 54 Design Studio we picked the winner of our giveaway competition. A beautiful, young family from up North that were in desperate need of some help with their family room. So the work began early December and although some finishing touches are still to be put in place, the walls have been newly plastered and painted and the furniture is in place and being used to its full potential, and all just in time for Christmas!
So, after settling on a budget, we began with an online chat about how the room was going to be used. With a toddler and a baby we had to choose practical pieces of furniture and soft furnishings that could be easily cleaned. The room also had to house lots of toys and a projector for the family to sit and watch films.
The first sofa we picked was the one we stuck with as it would fit the whole family on it and it had a handy storage compartment for toys and blankets. so everything could be hidden out of site. Plus it pulls out into a double bed, so great for the Christmas guests....such a fantastic sofa, what more could you want? Next came the rug, lighting and more storage before the fun part...a gallery wall full of the children's scribbles!! I hear this is still being put together but what a great way to showcase their talents!
Option 1. The client wanted a few options on rugs, as she wasn't too sure about the colour but it was the one we ended up going for. It was cost effective and vibrant. The rest of the products we tweaked ever so slightly to keep the costings down but overall they were very pleased with the selection. Basically a dream client!
Mid way through and the space was already being used to its full potential. No doubt a masterpiece was being created for that gallery wall!!
So now we're waiting for the latest pictures so we can add them to the post, but first, here's a lovely testimonial from the client.
'After having our conservatory roof and frames replaced to turn it into an all year round usable space we were really struggling with how to furnish it as its an awkward layout, so imagine my surprise when I was contacted by Rachel at No.54 design studio!
I was absolutely thrilled when I heard I had won a competition I entered online to win an online design consultation!!
our main requirements for the room we had in mind were to create a family space with lots of storage for the children's toys as well as having adult space for the evenings. Our budget was tight, plus we didn't want to spend a lot of money with a 2 year old and 9 month old playing in there everyday.
Rachel totally understood our needs and sent over some mood boards. It was so helpful to see the products arranged together and all the details of where to buy them and the prices made it super easy for us.
I now adore our family room and spend all our time in it, the sofa was the Best Buy with lots of storage and a sofa bed means we can have cosy film nights and a place for guests to stay. I would never of chosen the rug Rachel suggested myself but it's perfect, as the bold colours emphasise the family feel and it hides a multitude of sins! Our side table contains all of the babies toys. Her idea for the only wall to be a gallery space for the children's art work was genius and we've had so much fun creating masterpieces.
We also find we spend most evenings in the room too, we went with Rachel's ideas of blackout roller blinds creating privacy and the perfect backdrop for the projector.
Massive thank you to Rachel at design 54 for helping us to create a perfect family room, we love it.'
So glad I could help you guys out...you were an absolute dream to work with!!Keep your peepers peeled for more pictures, Next we are working on a bathroom revamp and a my own kitchen is being remodeled. Blogs to follow :)
